5 Tips to Effectively Dry Your Clothes

Effectively drying clothes in a dryer can be tricky! Over-drying leads to shrinkage and damage, while under-drying leaves clothes wet and prone to mold.

Here are tips for effective drying. You can avoid unexpected crop tops or ironing work shirts!

1. Separate clothes by fabric type and weight

Heavier fabrics, like jeans and towels, take longer to dry. Lighter fabrics, like cotton t-shirts, dry faster. Separating them helps ensure even drying and prevents over-drying. At Speede Laundromats in Durack and Kearneys Spring Toowoomba, you can use their folding tables to sort fabrics on laundry day.

2. Don’t overload the dryer

Stuffing too many clothes into the dryer prevents proper air circulation. This leads to under-drying and possible damage. Instead, fill the dryer to about two-thirds full. This gives clothes enough space to move and helps them dry quickly and evenly.

3. Use the right drying setting

Choose the dryer setting based on your fabric type. For delicate fabrics like wool, use a low heat setting. For heavier fabrics, such as jeans, sheets, and towels, use medium or high heat. Always check care labels for guidance on dryer settings.

4. Remove clothes from the dryer as soon as possible

Leaving clothes in the dryer after the cycle ends can cause over-drying and damage. Think of it like leaving a cake in the oven too long! Set a timer to remind yourself to remove clothes promptly. This prevents frustration for both you and other customers.

5. Don’t open the door during a cycle

We understand the temptation to check on progress! However, opening the dryer door releases hot air, slowing down the drying process. Resist the urge to check if you can. This will help your clothes dry faster.
